Performance Management Roadmap: Building a High Performance Culture
As government agencies face reduced budgets and
greater demands for accountability and efficiency, federal leaders need strong
performance management approaches to help motivate employees, increase
productivity and ensure that high-quality services are being delivered to the
American people. Many current performance management efforts fall shortbecause
they tend to focus on formal requirements and processes rather than the
informal, day-to-day employee and manager behaviors that have the greatest impact.
The Partnership for
Public Service and PDRI conducted performance management pilots at Department of Veterans Affairs and the Social Security Administration. The
Performance Management Roadmap outlines our experience and provides practical
guidance that all agencies can use to improve
day-to-day performance management.
